Why Nokia Asha series has turned into NirAsha !

In a recent post, I stated some apps for Nokia Asha 501. Nokia 501 has born from Nokia Asha OS, which is also being used in high end Asha Smartphones such as Asha 502 & Asha 503 dual sim.
Asha 503 costs approximately ₹6,749 in India. Its major competitors are Basic level Android smartphones and the new arrival in the industry, Moto-E, which stands in with comparable prices.

Spending over 6500, there are few reasons for which I do not consider any of the Asha series smartphone for work and productivity purposes. Quoting few of them here, add your points to the list in comments.

Compare before you buy!

1. No support for Pdf files
It is shocking to note that Asha series smartphone does not allows to use pdf files on handsets. This came as a disaster to the phone as it was expected to have at least basic capabilities to handle pdf files. Before Asha, the market for Nokia was occupied by Symbian 60 platform, which allowed applications for work and productivity purposes. While there is no support for pdf files in Asha, it becomes slightly funny to call it a smartphone.
In future updates of the firmware we expect Nokia to look into this point.

2. No tools for modifying MS Office Files

Nokia Asha is preloaded with My Office Suite, which is developed by Divim  which has it roots in Bangalore, India. This suite is not capable of even accessing word, excel and power-point files, so we expect anything much. While in Symbian 60 series there was good support to access and edit Word or Excel files.

3. No privacy tools
Tools are not available through which the unauthorized access of messages and e-mails can be prevented. In its last update Nokia introduces a concept of restriction code, but it went back poorly as it does not support to lock texts or gallery.

Amidst of various qualities of this series, it still lacks to serve the basic purpose of an smartphone. Big expectations from the coming firmware updates.

5 Amazing apps for your Nokia Asha 501

Long time, no post! This blog is dead from last one year due to various personal reasons.

Meanwhile I purchased an new Asha handset, named as Asha 501. This is an amazing phone, equipped with features such as Fastlane, a different operating system which is attracting a big crowd. Technology is compareable to Android cellphones but the application support pulls its leg in Asha.
Although trending apps such as Whatsapp, Twitter, Facebook, Line, Wechat, UC browser is supported by Asha 501 but still there is not much options for other apps. Most apps requires to be paid. And yet they are slow and requires all time internet.
